Hi guys, being new to the area and just got a boat not tryed any cats yet.
Can you give any tips on the Oak Point area.
Ive got a sticker for the ramp but have not tryed the area yet.
From the map it looks to be a little tricky.
Thanks Steve

Not tricky at all. I live in Oak Point and launch from there all the time.

This year it has been difficult for me to locate shad. I haven't been on the lake in a while to due my outboard leaking water into my lower unit. (Hurry up Spanky and call me!).

Usually you can catch shad about 30 yards due east of the ramp in 10-15 feet. Or head into the slough behind the ramp for netting shad.

Drift fishing should start to pick up as the spawn is almost over (if it isn't already). Drifting is good from the ramp to the first big point north of the ramp. Head to the toll bridge and start drifting back north on the either side on the main span. Head east from the ramp and look for the three crosses at the YMCA camp across the river.

I have drifted the whole area from the toll bridge back to the ramp and usually have good luck.

Stop by sometime with a map and I can give you more specific locations. You drive by my house on the way to the ramp.

The Oak Point boat ramp is located in the Crescent Oaks subdivision.
