The trick to the perfect knot is to close it slowly so that you get a nice tight even roll, I don't like leaving a tag and gluing because I'm not so sure the glue doesn't affect the composition of the mono it being what it is.
When pitching light weight stuff like wackys the low profile of the knot causes less friction going through the eyes.
I started doing this at Choke because of all the wood, I kept hooking fish but couldn't turn them away from the structure, now I turn 3-4 lbers into surfers on the hook set.

FYI:
Rather then cutting braid and leaving a S--- load in the water, wrap it around a boat cleat and pull it loose with the trolling motor.

I am using 30# & 40# Power Pro in Pads and not having any trouble with it. I had a 4.5# hit at the boat at Cypress 3 weeks ago and hard hook set to get it through the tough plastic I am fishing and no problem.

Sounds like you are cutting the tag line too close!!! go to 30 and leave a little tag. I agree, leave a little more tag and the line should chinch itself down.

I've never lost a foot of braid, if I did I wouldn't use it, that's the whole point of using a mono leader, it'll break first or you'll straighten out the hook, LOL.
The reason you've gotten braid caught in your trolling motor prop is because someone had to cut theirs because they weren't using a mono leader.
Cuss them.

WAY WAY WAY 2 small a braid... at the VERY min I use 40 on a bait caster... on a spinning 20... leave a longer tag end also and it will help, or supper glue your knots

Try a Clinch knot. A guide I used tried to snap a line that got stuck and I tied the line and he asked how the hell I tied the line. LOL

Move up to at least 30 lb and wet your knot before you tighten and it will cinch it down better.

When using double uni knots to attach a leader to braid, how many wraps of each tag end do you make to tie the knots, two wraps or three, same for both or more for braid than fluoro?

Back off the hookset or your going to start breaking rods! 30lb.easycast spiderwire is good all around braid...if you have trouble backing off the hook sets,,use lighter more forgiving rods,,,seen many allstars snap in three pieces because of hooksets with braid..

I forgot to add, I use (the horror!) only spincast reels. Is braid compatible with them? I can't imagine that it wouldn't be, but you never know.

This is 40#BBG and 65#braid on my surf rods. As far as OP problem, DBL palomar and make shure your trying that palomar correctly, if you put ANY twist or go over the hook in wrong direction, it wil slip everytime. I agree with the slightly longer tag line than you would use for mono, until you get your knots right and dont have them slip at all anymore then shorten that tag line. My pond bass rig uses 10# braid, and I have not had one knot slip or break yet. Due to improper knot tying. If you TX or C-rig that small of braid it better have a insert in the weight and be pegged or it will wear through.

Chestnut, braid is the best thing that ever happened to spinning gear IMO. Braid permits you to use much stronger line on spinning and virtually eliminates line twists. Rigged with braid and a leader, you can skip baits under docks and cables, overhanging trees, and other hard-to-reach places that few people can reach with baitcasters, without fear of breaking off because of light line. Braid is not needed for all spinning applications, but it greatly expanded the versatility of spinning gear.
