Went catfishing friday evening at fork. Trailed some soured milo into a small cove and then dumped about 2 gallons in the cove and my dad and me caught 25 good channel cats from 2 - 7 pounds. We probably caught 20 more that were 10" or smaller. Went back the next day and put out the milo the same way and we only had 7 keepers and must have caught 200 little catfish using the same bait as friday (danny kings).

What should be have done differently saturday to catch the big ones?

Too much chum in that area. You just want to attract them with it and not feed them as much would be my guess.

And if your getting the small fish might try another spot. Usually if your getting dinks then the quality fish are not there and vise-versa. Or try using cut shad instead of DK's
Chumming is just to get them to biting puts them in a frenzy kinda. Did your fish you got have big pouching bellies on them you can tell right away if they are eating the chum. Put a little out if they bite and stop then throw a little more and see if they come back.

You used about 1.85 gallons too much. Try reading this information.

Also agree, too much chum for area. I sometimes use a 1 quart scoop and scatter it out in an area. I try to chum several areas this way and when complete go back to the first area chumed and start fishing, if no results go to next spot. If no fish in 15-20 min or if they are dinks keep moving. Hope this helps.
