I had seen him around for awhile but never close up like yesterday.  Anybody know what kind of hawk this is.  He stayed on that post for a good 5 minutes while was taking pictures of him. I would take a picture and then take a step or two towards him. I bet I was 15-20 feet away from him before he took off and then it was to another perch on the same fence.

I hope he is eating snakes. He has been hanging around for a couple months now.I saw him come off one of those fence post and get something on the ground on my neighbor's side of the fence. I figured a mouse or squirrel but a snake would be wonderful. I don't think he's big enough to carry off my 12 lb poodles but he could hurt them if he wanted too. Were out in the country so he's not out of place being near. I just think it's neat that I could even get close enough to get decent shots of the fellow.
