Its not possible!!
You cannot have a good Bass pop. without grass.
I don't have a clue how we used to catch tons of 20lb. stringers and lots of 40 to 50 fish days on Caddo before the grass, and before the Freaking Florida Bass. We may not have had the 25 to 30 double digit fish that come off the lake every spring after about 50,000 fisherman trips but we had a heck of a lot more 4-6lb. fish caught. Big deep open lakes need a certain amount of grass, shallow lakes with lots of natural cover (Cypress Trees)do not.

A lot of the old timers said that the fishing was hot after the grass left in the 80's but soon dropped off after 1 yr. Well this time the fishing has stayed hot.

Yes, the first time they put the carp in the fishing was unbelievable for short period of time. The fish could not spread out through out the grass, so they had to concentrate in smaller spots. Lots of big fish, easy to catch. But, just like last time, this time will prove the same results, fishing after the explosion of fish, it will decline. Because the number of bass surviving will decline creating tougher fishing. This was the cycle last time. Fish are bunch up right now, due to the grass being gone. It will be another 15+ years before Conroe will be back again.

This is spot on for whats happening on Conroe. History tells us that. It wasn't one year for the fishing to drop off it was several. You need to go look at the torunament weights towards the end of the grass. They had some crazy weights for the top 10 teams. Now there will be several team with good weight but not near as many. Fish are bunched up if you can find them.

Ivie gave a good share of SAL and its has lots of grass. I like that grass even though it can be difficult to fish at times. I wonder if you could get grass to grow in PK would it help the GA problem there?

ray roberts used to have alot of grass and was being talked about as the next fork, grass gone and all that talk went away.

another point is weed growth may cause bass to grow slower but it also gives forage a place to live and grow bigger and more abundant. more forage means more bass.

I totally forgot about this post....When I posted this it was just to get a rise out of someone. My true belief is that every lake is better with some form of grass. Lake Conroe will again drop off the radar....just not sure when.
