well let me draw a rough sketch of one, but i don't think the ones that i've used for bait in the past have been carp, because i've cut some up in the past for catfish before i started carp fishing, and most of there body weight is eggs i've caught some with massive egg sacks that look like one of a 10+lb bass....i may have stretched the weight a bit but i do see them floating in the summer due to injuries...but the babies i catch in cast nets start like ordinary shiners but once they hit the 5" mark they turn gold, but less than 5" they're silver....thay have relatively large scales but i've never seen a crucian carp, but they have a carp backfin but start as a silver minnow type fish but turn a gold color, occasionally with a bit darker back scales depending on their habitat...i'll try and get some tonight if i have to fish all night to do it i'll get the picks, but these fish have relatively large mouths with either very unnoticable barbels or no barbels...i've only caught them on tiny bread balls or whole kernal sweet corn...if this doesn't help, i'll go and check a local pond tonight and get pics but if i can't get the bites on RR i'm going to use a cast net as these fish are very skittish.

my best golden shiner is about 8 inches or so.
nuts to catch them, no doubt.

looks like a black salty, i think they are a mix of like a golden shiner and a goldfish or something. Is it a golden shiner ?

black saltys have some carp in them hence the ability to stand salt water for a period of time.
