 email was on the 24th of june My Bro-in-law's dad BIL wrote: "My Dad is an avid offshore fisherman. With 1 – 2’ seas, yesterday decided to take his boat offshore out of Matagorda, TX and at 2:30pm on a weed line about 35 miles offshore, caught what is now the official new leader Ling (Cobia) on the Texas CCA Star Tournament. At 4.30pm, 2 hours later, he gaffed the fish. The ling officially weighed 75 pounds 6 oz. The previous leader was 69 pounds. If at the end of the tournament on September 1, 2010 if he is still the leader, a new 20’ boat motor and trailer will be his prize. A once and a lifetime fish, and one of the best eating fish in the Gulf. Could not have happened to a greater, more generous man. I had to get the bait camp owner at home to open the bait camp yesterday evening to weigh the fish. His wife was not too happy, but a sack of ling fillets will probably put a smile back on her face Thought all of you might appreciate the attached photo. To give you some perspective, my Dad is 5’-10” tall."

We caught two on our last trip (several years ago) that were cruising an oil rig. A 65# & 85# by my son. Very good fighters. I thought they were much like trying to lead a bull. Get them close and they change their mind and just make another slow hard run. Congrats on your catch and great photo. Also, very good eating.
