What bait would you recommend this time of year for jug lines? Also, what locations would you key on, depth, types of structure, etc.? Not looking for specific locations.

I use perch and place my jugs on and near points and ridges at the mouths of coves in about 15-25 ft. At towak last week this got 42 pounds of fillets in just 2 days.

cut perch cut perch cut perch for bait. I have never had the pleasure to use cut shad but always get to fish cut perch. I would look for some flats that is where we put ours last summer in about 35ft but had hooks about 5-10 foot from the top. Hope this helps

Live perch or shad about 2 to 3 inches. Look for ridges near a deep water break, Rocks around the dam area or flats near deeper water. Also deeper holes in a river system especially deep water close to bank edge. Live perch works best in creek when not running and almost any bait works well when water is on the move.

A good day fishing is not losing a jig, a bad day fishing is not losing a minnow!

I like to try different baits on each hook until i find what they really like. Those powerbait nuggets have been working surprisingly well for me this year. I usually try shrimp, doughbait, cut bait and worms.
