When I was living in Colorado, we would go on the Coors tour and I'll tell you Blue Moon straight off the brew floor is AWESOME. But free beer is almost always awesome.

I like it just fine. It's a decent, American brewed Witbier. I've certainly ordered it plenty of times when it was really hot, or they didn't have much else on offer, and I always enjoyed it.

I can just think of a lot of other wits and wheats I enjoy more.

Keeping with my earlier high ABV discussion, I really like Samuel Adams Imperial White. It's a little like Blue Moon, but doubled. Literally. Double flavor, double mouthfeel, double Alcohol. ( 10%+ ) Mmm.

LOL! That's the greatest lie ever told on this forum.

And if it was true, it's just cause you drop your Old Guardian over the edge of the boat.

I like Blue Moon, and I don't have to drive all the way to halls to get it! in fact I'm craving some now so I'll stop on the way home.

"The Beers of Summer...wasn't that a Don Henley song?" LMAO just the right amount of cheese on that one man!

OK, so do any of you like Sour Beers?

Rodenbach
RodenBach Grand Cru
New Glaris Wisconsin Belgian Red
New Glaris Enigma
New Belgium La Folie
Berliner Weisse
Cantillion Grand Cru Bruocsella (Lambic)
Boon Guizue

I love them in the summer time. Tart and refreshing. I just got back from the National Homebrewers Conference in Mineapolis, MN last week and visited a pub in St Paul called the Muddy Pig. They had Rodenbach Grand Cru on tap. Heavenly!

Man, sour beers are getting very very popular right now.

I, however, have a hyper-sensitive palette to the taste, and it throws me way off.

I don't have a lot of experience with sour beers, but I have a flight to Minneapolis tomorrow morning (Grandbaby is going to be born a few weeks earlies than expected). If I get the time I may have to check it out!

I tend to over think fishing. Please help me.
When I am over complicating something please kick me in the face. Hard.

If you make it to St. Paul, just up the street from the Muddy Pig is the Happy Gnome. Awesome beer list and all on tap. I had a flight of tasters there and all were beers I'd never had before. Good food and nice shady deck out back. I highly reccomend a visit to these two pubs.

I'd guess that as one is 4.2 and the other is 4.4 it a wash.

Just ask them what sour beers they have.

I know I've seen Belgian Guezue there but it's probably not the best for your first taste of sour beers.

Look for Monk's Cafe. It's a rather mild sour beer that I had on tap once. They should have it. Here's the Gingerman review:

"Of all the beers The Ginger Man offers, one rises to the top for bartender Kristi Thompson. Monks Caf Flemish Sour Ale is a spunky and audacious leap forward in beers with a taste unlike anything else youve ever experienced. Playfully sweet and more than a little sour with lots of flavor and personality, this ale is perfect for fall. Here, in Kristis words, is what makes the beer so great:

This is pure deliciousness! Monks Caf is brewed at the Van Steenburg Brewery in Belgium and is a Flemish sour ale. Ales are a top fermented at a warmer temperature than lagers, and a sour mash is used to give it a vinegary sour taste. Its light bodied, but with a lot of flavor. Its sour on the nose and at the start but with a sweetness in the finish. Even though it has sweet notes I wouldnt call it a sweet beer. Its dark and rich in color, and it tastes like heaven. I would recommend Monks Caf to anybody willing to try new beers, but not to somebody who's set in their ways and drinks the same thing all the time. This one is for the more adventurous. Its actually one of the most rare styles that you can find in the states, and weve got it at The Ginger Man.--Kristi Thompson"
