Hey,Guy;
Don't take offense.
Just offering a little advise.
I understand that your fuel gauge was not working. That being true, I suggest that you top off your tanks often until such time as it is repaired. You are equally stranded on CC as "offshore" and dependent on others for assistance. The major difference will be that "offshore" it'll cost you.
Also a good tow rope aboard your vessel is in order.
Last but assuredly not least, it is a matter of courtesy on our inland waters to offer a word of thanks to those who help you out of a bad situation. Though we don't require any thanks,
we do appreciate it.
Good boating to you and please be safe. Not only for your own sake but for those whose lives you assume responsibility for by inviting aboard your craft.
You're Welcome.
J.B.

I'm interpreting here, but sounds like J.B. towed someone in on Cedar Creek who had run out of gas. The guy didn't have a tow rope nor did he thank J.B. for the tow. He blamed running out on the fact that his gas gauge didn't work.

That would be my interpretation too. Let someone pay for a commercial tow and I bet they pay closer attention. Last I checked it started at $300 PLUS $10 per foot of boat length, if you can even get a tow boat to come out.
