I am new fairly new to fishing Crappie in Texas. RR is close to me and I want to learn that lake. Can anyone give me an area of the lake to concentrate on this time of year. East side, West side, or up the middle? With the heat, I would imagine the Crappie are on brush in 18-20 feet of water, or am I all wet on that? Hope to get on the water in the next week. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, where is the best place to launch from? I will be coming up from the South on 377, or 35.

COE brush piles when its not too windy. You can catch fish on standing timber when the wind is howling (easier to fish). Isle DuBoise is a good place to start, lots of brushpiles over there. Do have a GPS?

The COE brush piles are great and there are lots of them. Order a Martins Map and it has GPS coordinates for 40 something of them. They get you pretty close and from there just use your electronics to nail down the piles. Once you have a dozen or so piles nailed down you can just make a run and keep hitting the different piles. Usually you will find 1 or 2 that have active fish and can put a lot in the boat.

I order mine online at http://www.martinsmap.com/ Bass Pro used to have them but I didn't see any last time I was there. It does have a lot of info and the GPS coordinates for the COE piles only got us close but it was close enough that after making a lot of passes we found the brush then put a GPS mark right in the middle of it. They are big piles and it helps to have about 4 marker bouy's so you can use 3 to mark perimeters and keep one in case you find a sweet spot on the pile as sometimes you find a spot where as soon as you get your jig down you catch one fish after the others.

I have a map of Ray Roberts from an outfit called Fishing Hot Spots. There are quite a few square box symbols titled "Fish Attractor" on them. I assume those are the COE piles.
