Was rod shopping yesterday (ended up with a carbonlite) at bps, and there wa a rod that kept getting my attention because it felt light and sensitive...I believe it was a split grip lightning rod. It was orange and had split grips...it was only like $54 though.

Was this a lightning rod? And if so, does any have this model and how is it?

The CarbonLite is the better rod by far. That is the top selling rod at Bass Pro right now.

This is better than the original lightning rod that some of you are thinking about...this is a newer split grip series made for superlinrs. The carbonlite is a better rod I know, but these sure did feel good for the money.

I got my carbonlite onsale for $20 off.

I have two Berkley Lightning Rods, and they are great. I have a 6'6" casting rod and a 7' spinning rod. In my opinion, they are one of the best under $50 rods out their. They are sensitive, durable, and pretty light. If one of mine broke, I would buy another to replace it.

I won one last year in a tournament. Broke in on the first fish I caught and that lost fish cost me about $1000.00. Would not have one that I had to depend on for a tournament. If only fun fishing, might be ok.

these lightning rod shocks are nice rods especially for the $. I got braid on mine and usually use it to haul them out of grass or lillys. My question is I know they are designed for superlines but what would it hurt to run flouro or mono through it? are the Berkley police gonna pop up from a sub and respool it with braid? Im thinking of getting a couple more but I use little braid. I would think since it designed for braid it oughta handle flouro/mono easy. braid is hard on stuff

I have 4 of them 6'6" with Abu Silver Maxs on them... only one has braided line scared

They are a great all purpose rod... the only problem with breakage that I've seen is where I shut them in the tailgate of the truck
bang

Really a great rod for the $$$
