I do not have a paddle and the last few times I was stopped it never came up.

I think the paddle requirement doesn't affect the larger boats-does anyone agree with that?? Can you refer to a page number out of the outdoor annual or tpwd website that states you have to have alternate propulsion. I must have missed it.

If it's not a regulation to have an anchor in Texas, that's crazy ! Bad storm....disabled engine....and no anchor? It's a reg on all the lakes around Shreveport, I know.
You want to be safe or just legal? Oldfrog, he specifically asked about legal. You do not have to have an anchor to be legal. If you want to talk about safety items, then hell, there are alot of things I could think of that wasn't on his list... One thing that wasn't on his list was the owner I.D. card for the boat. Had a GW check for mine once.

gw stopped me the other day he wanted to see life jackets and a throw cushion and my fire ext...and to make sure i could press the green button down on the top of it... thats was all he asked for
