I went there a month ago. The seaweed was pretty bad, fishing from the surf.
How are the surf conditions?

Family and I are heading down this coming sunday for 4 to 5 days. I always bring the boat down but wanted to get feedback from people who are fishing this week?

Any reports this week? We will be staying on the river but I normally go up into east or west bay as well. Any feedback is appreciated!

Went to Matatgorda beach pier on Tuseday the 22nd. Caught fish all day. The kids and some friends that had never fished saltwater had a blast. We caught specks, reds, sheephead, whiting, and sharks. Fun day! The water was green with the blue water in close.

Is there anywhere around Matagorda where you can drive to and set up a tent to camp?

Not finding a lot of information on this and we need a backup plan in case PINS is under water :p

Hey JohnRussell check this place out. http://matagordabayrv.com/ It looks like it caters more to the RV campers but I don't see why they wouldn't let you pitch a tent instead if your paying for the spot. And it is a State Park. Hope it helps.

We'll be staying at the Matagorda State Park (the LCRA one) and fishing the bay plus 3-mile if it clears up enough.

PM if you wanna hook up!

Nothing but a sunburn and hardheads. Water was muddy and the current strong.

We went to the bay side, but some freak thing happened and the anchor came off my line (kayak).. the knot did not come untied, just came off the stupid loop I have at the end. Only thing I can think is the ring on the anchor came open or something.. brand new anchor..

I was so mad I just went into shore and pulled out the surf rods and sat on the pier and drank beer.. heh

Anyway, came back early because we simply were not catching anything.

No biggie.. will try again later.
