Is it worth fishing Palestine Sat morning for sandies or hybrids? I can never find either this time of year.
I would guess the sandies head towards the spillway, but I never fish that part of the lake. Any advice is appreciated. Maybe the rain will run the shad shallow, but i don't know the lake very well.

If you find out, please let me know. I'm going after channels this afternoon. I will have a sandbass rod rigged too, however. Wouldn't want to waste any boiling water I might see.

I've never seen a school on that lake. I've only fished it since last year, but it just hasn't happened.
I just don't know enough about sand bass to easily locate them as some do.

I have the same problem. We picked up 1 fish at the horsefarm last week, but I really don't know how to tell you to get there. Put in at LP Resort - go straight out Ledbetter bay and bear right. It is a big point with a big for sale sign you can see for quite a ways. I'm taking the boys to 155 bridge to fish for big fish for a while then go find some channels. We'll be there this afternoon and in the morning. Green ProGator fish and ski with a fat bald man and 2 loud boys in it.

Going to try Sun am but not sure how the lake going up 4 ft overniight on wed will effect the fishing. Although last 2 weeks have had some probems getting on them at all. However, some of the guys have been still doing quite well w/ live bait.

Seems a bit hard to get info on lake palestine. Judging by the "Palestine Hybrid" thread on this forum there seems to be some nice fish in the lake. I'm moving to palestine this summer so I intend to figure it out. Are there any guides on the lake for whites and hybrids?

Wednesday afternoon, and this afternoon did not pan out. Caught one sandbass on Wednesday over a three hour period, and nothing this afternoon.
Maybe Palestine is not worth the trip...

Did you see my post - caught 79 sandies and a crappie on the submerged bridges next to Hwy 155 yesterday.

Curly, I'm glad it was not just me. And I had some very lively perch.

I've lived on the lake for 10 years, fished it for over 25. Hybrids get hard to catch in the summer time. Sand bass move around a lot , hard to pattern. I did fish today , 21 crappie off brush in 20 ft of water in 4 hot hours. I worked up quite a sweat.
No easy answers this time of year, Just have to keep looking.
good luck MO

No doubt what Mo says "No easy answers this time of year" on this lake. You just gotta be on the move till you find active fish and hope it last before they shut down or move off and lose them. It can get hot out there, you gotta prepare yourself to deal with that and keep a clear mind. It can become work at times, but this lake will also reward you with some really nice clean fish. It will make a fisherman out of ya.
