there are also a TON of lower unit hungry stumps in little caney so be ready to idle ..Also if you only have one day and a large agenda, I wouldn't spend TOO much time trying to exclusively target bowfin.. they don't happen all the time, but that's just my two cents. When i catch them it seems to be on a spinnerbait shallow, shallow.. Jersey Dan can second that..lol sorry man i had to do it

The best location for Bowfin is up the river above Ray Hubbard. I haven't caught a Bowfin on Fork in a Loooooong time. Remember not to lip the thang.

Me and my dad have caught a few bowfin the last couple times we been to fork. One on a yellow magic and one on a senko, both up pretty shallow, but they always seem to hit chartruse/white spinner baits the best, thrown up pretty shallow around grass.

I'm going to target each species til I get one to CPR. Starting with redear/warmouth, that will catch me some bluegills and green sunfish bait for gar and bowfin, then probably try a bridge for crappie, need one white and one black, hope to get a yellow bass and maybe a drum in the process. Then I'll go hit coves for gar, and finally go see about some bowfin. Saving bowfin for last since they are probably the hardest to target. I'm sure I will not get all the target species but there is only 2 days left in the tourney and I'm down 4 species... gotta try. Then sunday off to Dennison for striper and suckers! Good luck with all that. Post some pics. watch, he'll catch your ten pounder on accident at the bridge crappie fishing...

If I catch a huge bass I won't post it on the forum. I can see it now, "carp fisherman catches record bass while targeting bowfin!" I'd get lynched!

ok so there are too many bass in fork! Fishing shad for gar, catch a bass. fishing cut perch for bowfin, yup another bass. Tossing spinner at gar.. you guessed it more bass. Gave up and started throwing a worm and catch a redear on a 6 inch finesse worm! Only one species I needed and a buncha nice bass in 8 hours fishing.
