Never go back to bass boat. 23ft Polar 250hpdi two stroke goes through about 25.00 of fuel per trip if I stay at 35mph or less. Also floats shallower than 18 ft bass boat. Even with 70 gallons of fuel,3 people, both live wells full of water, coolers and gear it drafts in less than 12" of water,Boat also will go 56mph.with a ton of storage. You may have seen the one at boat show on the floor. 3day

I bought a used bay boat from the coast two years ago. I removed the front rail, added a pedestal front seat, and a fresh water trolling motor. I use it to chase sandys & hybrids on Lake Palestine - even in the winds last Thursday. One modification I did to the trolling motor foot control. Some have small plastic teeth on them to grasp carpet in bass boats. I took a computer mouse pad and attached it to the foot control with black plastic (electric wire) nylon ties. It doesn't slip on the front deck.

Slabndeep,
I'm also from Belton. Did you happen to buy that 18' Super Tunnel with the Honda that was out by the lake? I looked at that boat and called the previous owner for my nephew.

The ETERNAL argument.........Bassboat vs Center Console..........
1. Are you a professional bass fisherman? If you are buy a bassboat, the fastest one you can find.
Otherwise look at the THREE styles of Center Consoles, which are Tunnel Hull-shallow water runs iin about 6" of water with a jackplate; bassboat style CC- all the attributes of a bassboat but better space utilization, and better ride in rougher water; Bay Boat Style- some of the attributes of a bassboat, higher sides more freeboard takes much rougher water- wont run as fast as a bassboat usually because it is much heavier, major brands have very durable hulls and are self draining.
So which one do you want???

I am in the market for a bay boat for texoma. Was at Plano Marine today, they sure do not like to negotiate. I was looking at a $129k cruiser, and a bay boat, I think they dropped like $1k off and I walked.

Dang, When I get cash in hand I'm gonna put you fellas to work finding me a great deal. Ya'll have found some sweeeeeeet wavebusters,
Omega, Bass fishing =bass boat, Open waterer=at least deep v of some kind, with enough weight to deaden bone jarring wave jolts. I'm in the same non=boat as you, wanting the best for the buck. I do a good bit of crappie fishing in the shallow stuff, then turn around and head for bigger water for sandies...in my kayak.
Have fished with Don the Angler often in his 18 ft Deep-Vee Fisher in some bad water. Great handling, safe, dry ride. (good skipper too) Don't go fishing with Bigdad, his boat will spoil you no matter what kind of fishing you do. Here's my 2 cents. I sincerely want at least 18ft deep vee, aluminum, washable interior, and enough space for wife and kayak. Do my "running" in the big boat, transfer to the kayak (talk about shooting some docks!). Like doing the Mothership thing ya know. Was on Lewisville last year with another buddy in a skeeter. A big cruiser came by. That bass boat burried it's nose in the wake like a pig in the mud. We were ankle deep and the weather was beautiful. Scarry.
He leadeth me beside still waters.

Well, I don't think I've missed anyone mentioning the Lund Deep-V's. I see Fly mentioned the Deep-V. Do yourself a favor and take a ride in a Lund on some bad weather days. Yep, they're expensive. But you get what you pay for. Today's forecast is for winds out of the south at 18MPH+ according to weather.com and I'm headed to the lake. Not trying to rub it in, but I've owned bass boats before and with that scheduled wind velocity, I'd be back asleep by now. If you'd like a ride in a 19' Lund Pro-V, just shoot me an email and we'll hook up. Omega, I think I owe you a ride anyways for something or other.
