I have always used monofilament. What are the advantages or disadvantages to nylon? Thanks.

the nylon gets heavy when wet and is easier to throw longer distances. you might want to get a longer throw rope. i can't stand mono nets!

Any other advantages. Does it sink faster? More or less durable?

The nylon net I once owned, before I turned it into fishing weights, sank so slow, relative to my mono nets, I only used it once. It is far more visible to the bait as it does sink.
I don't throw a net very far (too hard on the shoulders), so I can say without a doubt, I find no need whatsoever for one.....But, that's just for my application. Don't know how you plan on using one.

Use the least expensive one. Lake bottoms have been known to eat cast nets once in awhile...
