I have always thrown a monofilament casting net. I was wondering what the advantages or disadvantages of a nylon net were? I have never even seen one. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Coalhoop, I grew up in Galveston County and threw a nylon net for years until they started making the mono nets. The nylon nets are heavier, bait sees the net easier and if you don't clean/wash them out really well, ants, cats and rotting bait will eat/rot a nylon net. Mono nets are lighter, easier to throw, clean-up eaiser/nicer and you usually catch more bait with them using clear mono nets.

Thank you for the reply. I will stick with my mono. Tight lines.

I have thrown the same nylon net for 6 years and never cleaned it, always rolled it up wet and it didn't rot. Just got so many tears, I got tired of repairing it. I retired it last weekend.
