if you can figure out a method to consistently get them to take a fly I would be very interested. Its been my experience that they are just not as aggressive when presented with a chance to eat a fly

yes, I chase e'm around at Texoma a lot. I have seen a woolly bugger variant with lead eyes take some, but I have never caught one on the fly

Since they are known to follow shad and hit slabs, why not try a streamer or other minnow imitator?

I've caught plenty of small buffs on crappie jigs.

I would suggest a dog nobbler fly in chartruce or white with a black head and fish in a dam trailrace when the water id flowing but down somewhat.

Well as the forum's only previous holder of the IGFA 2# tippet world record for buffalo on the fly,

I can tell you,

they don't eat them very often. laugh

But they will. The really like that Sucker Punch fly for some reason wink

I've caught them on my arnj crush fly as well as a roughfisher nymph variation. Like Dave said, they aren't easy to catch but will take flies. Your best bet is to fish a tailrace
