Another nice sized catfish caught in Valley Ranch Canals! The same canal that my apartments sit on. Right off of Valley Ranch Dr and Macarthur.

I have NO idea how much she weighed.. Caught with bread on a 2 hook, a small weight, and 12 inches under a bobber.

So far my personal best!!

Depending on who you know, I'd recommend Lake Vilbig over any other in Irving.

Have caught tons of cats over 20lb and a few trophies as well..
Just have to get inventive on the bait wink and fish different.
They really hit like crappie in this lake and when you set the hook the first thought Is usually... "great I'm snagged"

Next Spot for Crappie, Bass and Cats

Just east of Beltline Rd, North of Hunter Ferrell (and Lone Star Park) This unnamed gravel pit has some of the best fishing I've experienced from the bank. Entry is overgrown, head in next right next to the end of the semi trailer lot.

Have caught my limit in Crappie hundreds of times (and even a state record sized crappie back when I was really young). Other than the crappie, I'd say over the years we've landed about 100 or so 3-7lb largemouth as well.

Everything there is overgrown now as the spot died out a few years ago when a body was dumped in the area. I still go, but I like burrs wink

that pond off wildlife turned over, it is almost completely void of all fish now. It is sad, it used to be very very good.

Just fished the Jefferson Park ponds off of MacArthur today. Although it was at the worst time of day to fish (noon-3pm) I caught about 4 largemouth (LMB) and I saw two other guys do the same. The fishing pressure here seems high, yet the fishing is OK. I'd like to find a place that consistently cranks out 5# cats and 2# LMB.

Sorry for bring back a thread from the dead just I was doing a search on google to find good spots in Las Colinas because I have gotten transferred to the head quarters here from Boston, MA. I was trying to see if people still fish around the canals or around in Irving, TX. I saw that there was a small lake here in Las Colinas but it seems to say No Fishing everywhere.

I also don't mind meeting up with some locals to fish together. A small Private message would be so nice with some tips on where to fish. Thanks.

I been to Grapevine lake that lake seems under size in terms of fish. Seems like there are not a lot of fish in that lake. I guess coming from Boston where I went ocean fishing a lot there is nothing around here that looks like a hot spot.

Fish the canals behind the old Nokia buildings off of 161 & 114 or go south on MacArthur and you'll see a Mac Donalds on the left and I think Cool River restaurant there are canals behind them that hold "biguns".
