Does anyone know how to catch crappie at Fairfield Lake? I fish there all the time but never catch any. If you do know, then where is a good spot?

I went fishing at rc from the hwy 309 ramp park that is just off hwy 287. All we caught was a channel and a blue catfish, both were 10-11 inches. Didn't catch any crappie. where is a good spot to fish for them there? We only have a small 11 foot john boat with no motor so we can't go out on the water when it's rough. Is the fishermans point a good spot to fish for them?

Maybe Mark parker or Royce simmons or maybe some other RC regulars will chime in and help you out.

With only an 11' John Boat, I'd recommend putting in at Oak Cove and fishing the 287 Bridge. If there's more than a 10 MPH wind, you're in trouble on RC with a small boat without an outboard.
Fisherman's Point Coves are OK in the Spring for spawn fish, and you can catch a few in the timber to the East of the Marina, but that's about it for that end of the Lake.

I fished a small power plant lake in my younger days. The warm water, 80*+, forced the fish into deeper reaches of the lake like around the dam riprap. Also might try suspend off main lake points. 20-25ft range is where I would start looking. Good Luck.
