What bothers me the most is that this type of behavior seems to have become acceptable through out our sport. Do the crappie, carp, and catfish fisherman have this much trouble getting along? I can tell you that I have had the same thing happen to me when I was taking my daughter crappie fishing. A guy cruised by to see if we were catching fish. I yelled 'Do I know you?' and he left in a huff. Like others have said it is becoming all too common and accepted.

Yes you have the right to be bothered IMO. However, what bothers me about this post is that we as fisherman think that we own a stretch of water or a spot. Hell you can't drive down a freeway these days without someone thinking your in their lane. I will always honor an area that a person is fishing in a tournament. But....how am I to know or someone else knows how many years a person has fished an area that we want to fish or think that we FOUND this hole. I'll admit that it irates me when someone pulls up right in front of me when I'm fishing a bank. I just think it's rude. But....it's a public lake and if I missed the key spot or the fished turned on right when I left what's the big deal. I made the wrong decision and will learn from it, congrats to the fisherman that won the battle with the fish and move on. How many times have your heard of a Pro spending a week to find a honey hole only to realize that three other Pros found this secret spot as well. It happens, get over it and fish. We don't own the lake nor do we have an address there. Dang, I feel better. Thanks for the therpy

When it comes to these situations, the better man almost never wins out. I had an old boy do that to me on Fork one time, tried to go into a little cove and he threw his crankbait right in front of my trolling motor. I am only 19 years old, and I knew that it wasn't worth the trouble. Some anglers like that are crazy, no offense to those that have done it, and you never know what they could do. I ended up fishing the trees outside the mouth of that cove, and caught a few fish and watched the old man come up empty in the place he guarded so well. If a person is prefishing for a tournament, it should be acceptable as long as they let you know their intentions. You did the right thing by avoiding confrontation, and like Joefishin said, Karma karma karma. The same thing will happen to that guy one day, and hopefully he'll learn his lesson and not try to hog the water.
