Does anyone know if snakeheads have spread to texas yet? If they have then where can you catch them?

I recommend a guided trip on the Potomac River in Maryland.

Better hope they don't make it to Texas. That would be bad for our fisheries.

Then fish for Bowfin! They fight just as hard, they're just as aggressive, they look similar...But they're a Native Texas Species and won't ruin a waterway!

yeah, catch a bowfin, you won't be disappointed. I caught on at Cedar Creek a couple of months ago and they fight.

The canals in south Florida and the Everglades have good populations of snakeheads and they readily take bass lures.

Here is an interesting article:

I am sure it will not be long before we have snakeheads here. Didn't take the zebra mussels too long and the bighead carp can't be too far behind.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

OK, Thanks. Where a good place to catch Bowfin? I live in Fairfield. I go to Fairfield Lake and Richlands Chambers a lot. I plan on going to Fort Boggy, Navaro Mills, Fort Parker, and The Trinity River and other spots I can get to on the side of the road. If any of those places have bowfin then where do you catch them at an what is good bait to use? If none of those places have bowfin, then where is the closest place I could catch them at?

I think Ray Hubbard has bowfin. Lavon might have some as well.

Crawfish seem to draw them to my trotline most often in the spring.
They are really cool when spawning, they have greens and pinks like
a dolhpin (dorado).
