I'm going to rockport this summer to fish and was wondering if there was any way to catch red snapper from the shore? If so where and what time? Also Where can you catch sharks there?

Mangove snapper, yes. Red snapper will require a boat ride.

Have never heard of it, but seems to me that you could catch sharks off the end of Fulton pier.

As someone else said......."not going to catch Red Snapper there off the shore".............. Shark?? Depends on what kind of Shark you are wanting to catch? You can get into some small 2'-4' Blacktip & Whitetip Shark Off the Copano Bay Causeway Pier down towards the middle-end of Pier. Want something bigger?? Head to Horace Caldwell Pier or Bob Hall Pier and you can catch'em up to 10'-11' long....... Tiger, Hammerheads, Bulls........... 5'+ Black Tips & plenty of other species.............. TIGHT LINES!!!!
One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!

maybe what you got confused is red drum (redfish) and red snapper. red fish are plentiful in the bays around rockport. red snapper, you would have to venture offshore as already mentioned.

I know the difference between red drum and red snapper. Anyway thanks for all the locations to fish for sharks at.

I caught a red snapper in the channel of the Port A North Jetty in 1993 after TS Arlene. I grew up in Port A and that is only the 2nd snapper I know of being caught there. I wouldn't target them, but there are plenty of Mangrove's.
Oh yeah, you can keep a hammerhead, but there is no sense in killing it. Blacktip is a good eating shark, but all others should be released IMO.
