Do ya use a split-ring or tie directly to the eyelet on a popper type bait? Like the YM, Splash-It.

No split ring, but some say to tie a loop knot. I usually just tie directly, tho.

I usually use a Rapala knot, yet to have a problem with it breaking. If you make the loop too big though you will get more problems with hooks getting caught in the loop and wasting casts.

Fish with top-water lures a bunch at the coast. Always use a loop knot. Just more action. IMO
