Been wondering about hybrid stocking for 2010 so I got on the TP&W site to see if it had started yet. To my suprise they showed a 2010 stocking for richland chambers. It appears they stocked over 2,000,000 fry. After looking at some of the other more popular hybrid lakes I also noticed Lewisville received roughly the same amount of fry. My question is this: Why the change from stocking fingerlings to fry? Does TP&W have a new strategy or did they just have a good hatch and need room in the tanks to grow out some fingerlings?

you need to contact Rafe Brock the head Biologist for the region, I have talked to him myself and he is fantastic. His number can be found on the TPWD website, the icon states "locate a biologist" I believe. Good luck, and I am sure you will get the answers that you are looking for.

The fry that went to Lewisville and RC were already purchased and were supposed to go to some of the lakes on the Brazos River chain. Not sure exactly which lakes though. Because of the golden algae issue this year, they stocked those fish in other lakes instead that were not affected by GA. The fry are a lot cheaper to raise. They are only about a week old when they are stocked. They stock a higher numer of fry compared to fingerlings because the survival rate is less with hopes that the final survival rate is about equal.
