I just bought a Scrabmler XT Angler. I also bought the large scupper plugs. According to the scupper plug package all four scuppers in the Scrambler XT are large. So I of course bought the large ones. I tried to put these things in and they are a no go. I pushed and pushed even got them wet in hopes they would slip in. No luck. Are these things supposed to be this tight? Is there an install trick? or should I buy some medium sized ones?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I would go with Nerf balls.

My attempts at plugging the scupper holes in my XT were futile. Are your scupper holes round or oblong. My son's are round and mine are oblong (older model). We first used nerf balls (practice golf balls) but they still let water in. The red rubber cup looking plugs sold on OK's website fit into the holes easily, which makes me think you have the wrong size. I think they were large. But even those let water in.

The XT is a great yak with lots of advantages, but it is, and probably will always be, a wet ride.

I just took the large red OK plugs back to Academy and grabbed a pair of the medium blue ones. I walked out back to the boat yard grabbed an XT and stuck a plug in it. The fit was tight, a little to tight to be honest. I got home and dropped them in some water and pushed them into the boat. The fit seemed tight, I plan to test them out this afternoon. The label on the package says the Scrambler XT should take Large plugs. I plan on sending an email to OK and let them know the fine manufactures in China screwed up the label.

I have only found one thing which fits the XT and that is a section of pool noodle. Cut a section off about the width of your scupper hols and then cut out a section of the plug to where it crams in. I use them in the winter time to try and stay as dry as possible. I don't mind sitting in the water during the summer time.

I don't ever bother with them. I just wear merino wool thermals under my chest high thin waders in the winter. Kayaking is a water sport, so is fishing.

The large ones work ok on the forward drain holes but not on the rear.

The holes in my XT are all the same size. The mediums work great, I stayed nice and dry. Its just that the package that lists the size for types of boats is mislabeled. Oh and they are the round holes not the oblong holes.

i dont mind it either. when the wind gets up you wont stop the water from coming in anyways & you'll want them scuppers holes to do what they where made to do. this weekend was perfect scupper hole weather. i didnt paddle but would have been some good weather to leave babies unplugged! if you are yakin and not getting at least a little wet your doing everything wrong.

Email it to me please. I'm curious. Your scramble scuppers are round my are oval or whatever, some are large some are small, your's are med... lots of variation...

mrayatlear.com use the @ symbol. I just didn't want my email address picked up by bots.
