My Dad and I went to Ray Roberts this morning and launched our kayaks at Jordan Park. We started off fishing the flooded tank on the shoreline in the cove next to the boat ramp just to get out of the strong winds. It was like fishing in a hurricane for us. I landed 2 chunky bass on a finesse jig and then we see fishing jumping in the cove. I thought they were sandies but soon realized they were schooling bass. My dad was able to catch 1 on a rapala. Wind was strong so we both went back to fishing the tank. I landed a bass on a 10 inch power worm and dad catches a nice 4 pounder on a weightless hollow body swimbait. We moved out of the tank and fished a rocky shoreline straight across from the ramp. The fished were stacked and feeding on shad and we both caught 2 bass on the hollow body swimbait. We paddle around the corner and Dad lands another bass on the hollow body. After paddling 50 yards in a straight headwind for what seemed like an hour if not two, we made it back to the rocky shoreline and caught 1 last bass on a H20 crankbait.
All together we caught 10 bass with the best being 4 lbs. Each of us caught a nice 3 lber and the rest were 2's with one small dink.
Good day at Ray Roberts as always! Last time we went to Ray Roberts we stuck a 6 lber out of lick creek.
