Currently I am trying to find locations where I am able to fish for some good size cats from shore. I know lake Ray Roberts pretty well and just want to broaden out. Are there any parks or locations that have been yielding any good size catches? I would like to do some night fishing if possible, or even during the day works well. Also what seems to be the best for catching the cats right now?

Welcome to the TFF. Just a bit of advice. Complete you profile and introduce yourself. You'll be much more likely to get a bit of help of folks know who they are helping out. Are you targeting blues or channel cats?

Thanks alot Bobby,
I am currently looking to catch any fish really. Channels or blues are both good. I know that the blue bite right now is kinda hard to find so channal would be good. I am going out with a guide next friday for crappie and maybe some cats. mostly shore spots is my desire. I have access to a boat but its my dad's so its hard to get him to let me use it.

Give this Lake Lewisville/ Ray roberts shore fishing map that I put together a try. It has many locations on it where you can catch some cats and other fish. Lake Lewisville, Ray Roberts, Lavon Fishing Map Hope it helps.

Early morning or evening hours seems to work good. Punch bait and Dead Red spray works good for the channel cats. If you want blues, you need to get you some shad. I just recently learned how to use a cast net to catch shad. Been catching a lot more of everything with it ... channels, the blues love it, and even some nice hybrids from shore.
Has anyone ever told you about fishing wind blown shores? Make sure the wind is blowing in your face when you're looking out at the water. That should increase your chances of catching fish.

in this heat just fill a 5 gallon half full of milo, wheat or chicken scratch. fill with water about 2 inches above grain. keep checking water because it will absorb. wait 5 days and it should be ready if you keep it in the sun. you can add a beer if it makes you feel better, but you might just want to drink it. it doesnt make that much difference.

sounds great! thats what i have read up on so far. some people also said try doing chicken liver and garlic salt and letting it dry out and some other stuff. is blending shad and freezing it a good option too?

if your just trying to chum for channel cat the grain will work as well as anything. if there are cats in the area it will bring them to ya. over the weekend we had some you could feel the grain in their bellies 30 minutes after throwing it out. when the bite started slowing down we would just throw another cupful out
