Hi all,
I haven't had the chance to do any good sunfishing since I moved down here. I'm just curious if anyone can point me in the right direction to some good bluegill/sunfish spots here in the Amarillo area?
Thank you, MR

Years ago, I had a summer job in Stinnett, and spent a lot of time wet wading beautiful Lake Meridith. Lots and lots of sunfish in the rocky shallows of that lake.

I spend tons of time there, I rarely catch any sunfish, aside from bass of course. I'll tell you what, the sandies are insane in that lake. As far as sunnies there, maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot?

Last time I drove by Meridith there was not much to see; has it came up some?
The panhandle lake I wanted to learn but never had the time was McClellan in Clarendon. You might check it out.

Meredith is still very low, but it's full of sandies and walleye, some pretty nice smallies and even LMB too.
McClellan is the only lake closer than not to me I haven't been to yet. Now that you mention it, I think I'll head over to it tomorrow morning.

Good luck if you went.
Sad to see Meredith that way, Besides species you mentioned it also used to be a great flathead lake.

Still plenty of flatheads there, dunno why I didn't mention it, channels too.
I actually went to Mackenzie today, was heading to Wolf Creek/fryer until I remembered it was hit by some severe weather yesterday. I did really well on the crappie and bluegill. I also landed a few decent hybrids.

It's low, but they did lift the PWC and waterski ban, much to my dismay.

Used to catch quite a few bass and bluegill in the little lake that is in Caprock Canyon State Park. Nothing amazing, but it was a nice change of scenery
