I fish every weekend with some friends but most of the time we anchor down and fish on top water at night. What would be the best way to fish on the bottom for catfish when the boat is anchored. I know I need to use circle hooks but is there a way to prevent hangs?

A great web site to look at is LearnToCatchCatfish. Here is a link to their articles on tackle. http://www.learntocatchcatfish.com/category/catfishing-how-to/catfish-rigs-catfishing-how-to/From what you say, it sounds like you want to use either a slip sinker rig of the boat is relatively still or a santee cooper if there is boat movement and/or there is a high risk of snags. If neither of these are to your liking, the others listed on the page are always worth a shot.

Kolban, Thank you. I looked at the site and cant wait to try them out. We always fish ontop and last weekend caught a lot with most averaging 3 to 8 lbs. So I'm thinking they big uns are probably on or near bottom. Again Thanks
