yeah, best tip for bank fishing pool: Get A Boat.

lol j/k. I see people doing well near the boat ramps in lynn creek, at the bridges, and near the boat ramp at britton. I'm not sure about any place else there. Maybe the state park. Good luck!

bank fishing is good during the spawn because the parks have good bank access to the coves but once the spawn is over its not that great. might try the barge at Lynn Creek or the one at the state park.

i have caught a good number of channels and blues over the last couple of summers off the bank at britton park. you will do best if you can cast to the south side of the channel, takes atleast 50-60 yd throw!

It's okay. The shad population isn't that great though... so the fish don't grow that big (at least crappie don't).

I filleted up about a dozen 2lbs over the weekend that would disagree with you.

Wait never mind. You're right. There are no fish in JP. No reason for anyone to fish there.

I'm not saying that there aren't any big ones in JP at all. There are some but not anything like a heathly lake like Lewisville, or Ray Roberts. Those lakes will put JP to shame on big fish because they have a better shad reproduction rate. I learned how to crappie fish on JP and out of the 2 years I fished there every weekend I only saw one 2lb fish. There are also too many fish in that lake for them to grow really big. How many fish did you have to weed through to get those 12 2 pounders?

27 1.5 - 2+ lbser in the past two weekends. How many dinks did I toss back for each that I kept... idk... maybe 3 - 4... I wasn't keeping anything under 12" because I don't like my fillets to be too thin. Too easy to get tuff in the fryer if they are too thin. And I'm not even a crappie fisherman. I was just putting some meat in the freezer. The whole time I was out there I was looking toward my bass spots w/ great longing but momma wanted some crappie in the freezer. But hey, I don't know jack about crappie and I'll be the first to admit it. I just fished the bridges, didn't even bother to go hunting up the few piles I know of on JP.
Lewisville maybe better. You'd have to pay me to get in the same water on my kayak with some of the idiot pleasure boaters out there. RayBob I'm sure is better. It is a fine lake all the way around. But way too far for me to drive on a sunday morning just to catch a few crappie to keep momma happy.
I'm just saying there is plenty of size in JP based on my amature experience in the past two weeks. Heck you should see some of the bass, I've been catching on JP this year. You wouldn't believe it was Pool.
Wait, no I'm not. There are no fish in Joe Pool. No reason for anyone to fish there. lol

Did you take any pictures of them? I'd love to see those slabs! Well then you are a better crappie fisherman than me by far. I have never caught or heard of that many big fish coming out of JP in 2 weeks. Especially, with a 30 mph wind like this past weekend and a kayak. I must have no idea what I'm doing. grin

Lets call it beginners luck, then. I just worked the state park side bridge for a couple of hours sunday morning. Wind sucked but the good thing about the wind is it keeps people off the lake. I went thru 2 dozen minners pretty quick and switched to black and chart roadrunner. I used a bobber stop as a marker to keep my depth about 6 feet off the bottom as that was were I was marking fish.
I posted a thread last week with a cooler pic. I really didn't think they were all that remarkable but I was pleased to be putting fish in the freezer. Its titled "Nice ones from Pool" or something like that. Posted it in the crappie section.

Those are some good fish no doubt about it. How many 2+ pounders are in that cooler?
