night fishing on the dam is good for catching blues if you can get some perch and keep them alive. I'm pretty sure they will travel the dam at night looking for bait. Tried it in college with good success. Shad and stink bait will work for smaller cats too, under a cork (1-2 feet deep) against the dam right as the sun goes down. Good luck!

gate hours are weird from what I remember, and they are closed on Wednesday's. There is room to park on the dam road, so you can walk about 20 feet and you fish. Fish in the main lake about 2/3 way down. There used to be an old piece or rebar sticking out of the rocks close to the water. If it is still there, that is where I would fish.
Fishing on the old dock is not very good. Heard that people have caught huge yellow cats around the boat dock/ramp, but you will be in the way of every single boat that launches.
Swimming area is good for catching shad and ghost minnows.

You better check with the gate attendant before parking on top of the dam. If they say it is okay, go for it.

Think obiewan57's uses C.J.'s
Haven't tried the others yet, but C.J.'s has worked from shore in my limited experience

Gibbons is good on the pier as soon as it opens, fish half way down and to the right. I lost 2 cell phones there. Some nice 3-5 pounders can be caught there.
I use to fish there all the time growing up. If you walk down to the bottom of the dam on the discharge side just past the rocks, you can launch some shiners as far as you can toward the dam with a surf rod and pull in 8-10 pounders real fast. I'm not sure if it's still that way now though since they added a small RV park. I broke a big rod there in half fighting a big blue.
Good luck.
