Went today some fish are small and unhealthy looking. But if you go North towards Dam watch for some barrels on the lft farthest cove South and the fish are bigger and healthy. Or go far North up where the creek actually feeds into the lake and fish are bigger and abundant. We got blowed off the water today. Our boat is a small 14ft. 4.5 hp so we could not stay when normal boats could. We got 22 nice 2.5- 3, and a couple 4 but were healthy good sized nice fish. Talked to guy that had went North up the Creek and had about 6 people and they had a good amount of Nice fish also some would go 5lbs. We fished in about 5ft of water maybe 4 no depth fined on our fine fishing machine. Don't know what depth the other fella fished. If you go out of ramp area and head straight acroos toward island water is about 30ft. or so but that is where all we talked to caught alot but no size and big heads with small bodies and just don't look good. We used Mr. Whiskers, some used Night Crawlers, some used another punch bait don't know which one. We tried shad caught the night before and they just did not hit our shad. But tore the Whiskers up you can get it at Nubbin Ridge, Wal Mart. Nubbin Ridge is close but don't know what time they open Granbury's Wal-Mart opens 24hrs. Good luck. Hope that helps you some. We only fished about an hr or maybe 2 took us 30min just to get there and man the 25 30mph wind we fought on the way back was very glad to see the ramp and get the heck out of the water lol. Done alot in small craft but the really scared me coming back we waited about 30min to long. But here i am telling about it so all went well and telling a fish story so can't be all bad.

your unhealthy looking fish are liable to be males on the nest

we found them last weekend near the black ducks that had nested in the northwestern creek. 1-3 lbs healhty cats were hitting free lined shad in shallow water. Caught them until the heat and smell of those ducks became unbareable. left them bitting.

Fished Squaw Fri. 11th, 8:A.M. til 2 P.M. at old rock house. Caught about 80, kept 64. Most fish caught on Danny King Original, some on some really old Bob's Cheese Bait. A few 3 & 4 lbs. a bunch of 12-14 inchers. A lot of them were "skinny big headed fish. Depth 12 to 14 ft. Should have gone on up to the creek. Really windy. Got wet on the way back to the ramp. But happy to get back on the lake. Did NOT see the Gators.

TA Gravely i have fished a few yrs lol. Don't think they were males on a nest in 30-35ft. of water. And we did find alot healthier fish in a different location. Though when i had a fish fry yesterday and layed them out beside Tawakoni fish they still were no where near as healthy a fish. Not sickly but the meat was just i don't even know how to describe it. NOT the same at all ended up throwing the meat away from SC may have not been anything wrong with it but man it just was watery. might not be anything wrong with eating them but for my personal taste think i will catch them but wait until Late Nov-March to eat any of them. But for sure know some have eaten them and have not heard of anyone getting sick of bug eyed or anything from them. Heard the aligators have 8 eyes though lol.

I read a article that they removed the gators last year..as for the quality of meat all hot water lakes give the fish a rubber like type texture ime. can you set out jug lines?

I know you used to could set jugs. Probabaly still can for the day your there pretty much Texas fishing rules apply.
