New to this Forum. My friends and I are wanting to take a small last minute get-a-way to a cabin on a lake where we can catch some fish and have fun. Doesn't matter what kind SandBass, Catfish, Stripers, Hybrids, etc... We were thinking about Tawakoni, Cedar Creek or Cooper, but not real sure. We heard Cedar Creek was under water and Tawakoni is having a tournament. Looking for a good lake within an hour or two of Dallas.

Lake Whitney! I think its about 2 hours.

Lake Cooper, they have cabins and the fishing is good, may want to call first after all the rain no telling what the lake is like.

Any suggestions on where to stay and what part of the lake to fish?

I was on cooper yesterday and it did not seem like the rains muddied the lake. Most of the rain was south and east of cooper. You will want to contact the state park for cabins it can be hard to get one on the weekend on such short notice. The fishing is good cooper right now. Try fishing sassy shads on top of the main lake humps. And slabs for the white bass on the humps. Good luck

Welcome to the TFF JL, if your going out in a boat you may want to take a look at the wind forecasts. Gusts up to 30mph in the places I've checked so far. Good luck to ya.
