I have never fished Conroe for crappie. Usually catch them all at rayburn. I am wanting to fish Conroe early saturday morning for a couple hours (before the boat traffic gets out of control) for some crappie. Can anyone tell me where some good spots are? General areas at least?

What are your good spots at Rayburn? wink I would think bridges and brush piles.

I have a friend that lives near Conroe but he is strictly bass fishing. Sorry nothing here.

I fish he 1097 bridge and have been catching good numbers during the week. The key is moving often until you find them. Sat morning may be difficult- there probably will be lots of boats tied up under the bridge, so moving to find the fish may not be possible. Also, yesterday the wind was so bad I did not even try the bridge. The waves would beat me to death, not much fun. I tried standing timber in the Scotts Ridge area, not much luck. Found a few channel cats, but not a single crappie.
