So is it legal to run a trot line for deer? I read the outdoor manual and it makes no mention of it. Any feedback is appreciated.

Deer at GV? Yep! About two months ago I was at Lakeview Park and in the back of the cove by the south ramp there were tracks of at least three different deer.
Swimming deer? Yep, saw that twice! Once saw a huge buck swimming across one of the coves in Lake Trinity (in No. CA). Could not figure out what he was up to until we saw the does on the other side of the cove.
Second time was at Lake San Vicente in San Diego. Those canyon lakes have a lot of boulders on the hills and we always wondered when one would come crashing down. Well one day sure enough we hear a bunch of crashing sounds comming from the hillside and can see the brush and small trees getting violently shoved aside, and we figured it finally happened and was awaiting the arrival of the boulder and the accompanying tremendous splash.
But instead of a big ole boulder flying out of the brush it was a buck! And for San Diego it was a big one!
Then the dang thing does not slow down a bit and instead charges into the lake at WOT! We watched in amazement as the buck swam a good two hundred yards into the lake, just to see him then turn around and swim right back to his launch point, where he gave himself a good shake, gave us a quick look over his shoulder and then slipped silently back into the brush. Never did figure out what he was doing, but he put on a pretty good show.

Believe it or not... I was fishing Eagle Mountain last year we were catching sandies pretty good when i saw a wake by the island. I knew it was a HUGE fish! I grabbed a slab and started throwing at it. He hit it once and i set the hook! FISH ON!! I couldn't believe it! Biggest fish i ever hooked! He was pulling like a train my 80# braid was making a popping noise and i knew it wouldn't be long before he got off. My buddy sprang into action and pulled the anchor rope up. Off we go following this BEAST of a fish across the lake. I was cranking down on him but it was no good he just wouldn't come up to the top. We could see a big dark arch on the depth finder so we knew it was HUGE. After 20 mins my arms started to burn and my hands were sore. My buddy started coaching me Reel down! Pull back! Reel down again! This beast started pulling us to the cove. I knew immediately that if we got in shallow water i could land him We were jumping up and down out of excitement!! I could tell the beast was wearing down! He pulls us by the reeds and i knew it was do or die time. This is my time to shine baby! I locked the drag and pulled back with everything i had... He was just too much for me. He pulled me in the water. Luckily i made it to shore where i had my footing. Here he comes! I Almost have him... With every swirl a chill ran down my spine. I could see a dark figure he was getting closer!! I knew i had him!! This was it. The moment every fisherman dreams of. 5 ft of water now, keep reeling! 2 ft of water.... and then i seen it.I knew it was a fish that I've never seen before I reach down to lip him . I have him in my hands And then i realize what i have. It's Sasquatch 8ft tall and 600 lbs in all his glory standing there on the bank of Eagle Mountain. Little did i know the fight had just started . What happened next is indescribable. Went home without my lure and a couple fingers. " never lip a Sasquatch"

I think I'll try to hit Lake Worth up for the Goat Man if anyone is interested?

Funny this should come up because I was hog hunting last weekend and wound up taking out a 40lb catfish munching on corn under my feeder!
