I have never rigged one and need to learn how. We are going to Bruaning next weekend fishing for reds and cats at night and was told that I need to fish the outer edge of the lights. So I need to know how to keep my just off the bottom but away from the boat. Any pictures would help.
Thanks

Yep reel in the bobber stop. I like to trim the ends on mine a little bit though the directions on them say you don't need to. I don't like that much loose thread floating around my spool.

I always buy packets of bobber stops and attach them to the line as opposed to trying to tie my own. The purchased bobber stops also appear to be made of cotton or thread and are softer and don't snag as much as using just a piece of line.

some of the old nylon braided fishing line is what i use for the stop ... prolly around 10# ... i have the line on a wooden thread spool, inside a plastic 35mm film holder, with a hole in the lid & the line sticking thru
i have used mono to tye the stop but it will boogger up the main line when you slide it, if you ain't real careful
regards albertking catfishing is now an industry ... it's best for the industry to eat baby catfish

Always, always, always cut off the loose ends on a bobber stop. If you don't and you reel over them too many times they can get tangled in the reel and they will grab when you are casting. if you are fishing shallow depths this is not an issue.
You can make them from a number of things but I have big sasquatch hands so I just but them in big bags. Saves me a lot of time in the long run.

BrandonA, I'll second that. I'm in danger of becoming a FanBoy at LearnToCatchCatfish.com. The content is updated so often (almost daily) that it has becoming a "morning coffee" routine to see what is new.
