i just use cornmeal and salt and pepper........i've got a 1/2 gallon left that i'm frying saturday and was just wondering what others might do different. thanks

Cornmeal is fine. I've used Zatterands (sp) shrimp fry the last couple of times. Seems to fall off less. I think it's seasoned cornflour.

i haven' tried that one b4........have yall ever heard of soaking them in milk with mustard?

Before you batter them with the cornmeal, put a light coating of corn starch on the oysters. Once you have done that, dip them in the liquid of your choice and then into the cornmeal. That will help the corn meal stay on while they are frying.


At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

Flour, buttermilk egg mixture and finely crushed saltines!!! 315-325 till golden. Have you ever had an oyster hogie??? Damn..slap you momma good!!!!!

I'm working in the Shreveport area and the news said they the state extended or re-opened the season for oysters. The way they talked, it was for oyerster reef west of the Mississippi River

I fix them several ways but what whupbass said with the saltines is hard to beat .

To tell you the truth, i like the boiled oyster in a can and then dip them in some eggwash and than some seasoned flour, they come out good and its not as messy.
