I came home from the lake on Saturday and realized that somehow my tip broke on my new Falcon Amistad Special. I bought this rod in February.

What are my options in getting the rod replaced? I am currently trying to find the receipt from BPS. Is dealing directly with Falcon a better way to go? Would they replace the rod?

I would rather not just have the tip replaced. Is that my only option?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Falcon has been good for me. I took mine to Southwest in Dallas on Mockingbird at Irving Blvd. I paid 20 or 30 for shipping, they packed it and shipped. worked out for me OK.

Good Luck hope it gets fixed.

Just took mine back to Academy three days ago. I had it over a year, no reciept, broke it setting the hook on a tiny little bass. They swapped it for a new Falcon with no questions. I've heard that Academy is stopping this due to issues with Falcons breaking but this is the 2nd Falcon I've taken back to them. I'll keep buying from them so long as they keep taking them back.

I have no idea what happened to your rod -- but if you think it might have been your fault, maybe you need to replace it yourself. If you're setting the hook without overstressing the rod rating (lb test rating on the rod)and it snaps at the handle, that makes sense, for example.

There comes a time to man-up and not expect the rod companies to pay for our mistakes.

Again, I'm not getting on the writer, but if we break a rod from mishandling we need to pony-up. Bottomline is we'll put businesses out of business or we'll force them to pass the expenses on us.

P.S. I'm no saint, I've returned rods I've broke due to my fault in the past.

+2 I was po'd when my amistad special broke about 12" down from the tip on a hook set. took it back to academy and they just said go get another one. very satisfied with academy, but falcon needs to do something about their $200 Cara's snapping lke twigs.

I've got 3 Amistads and various other Falcons. I would deal with Falcon. Talk to Cody he will fix you up.

I have not had any of my rods "break like twigs". I am sorry for your bad luck with them.

Good luck on Falcon Rod Co. replacing it...I had a cara and broke it on my fisrt hook set. Needless to say Falcon would not stand behind it,they said it had been abused. I personaly would never own another Falcon

BPS wont take e'm. they give you a rod tube and an address if you try to return it. I had falcon repair 2 in one order. both for a different reason than broken tip but one broke in shipping and they replaced it

About 10 of you,

Thanks for your responses. I will call Falcon and see what they say and then go from there.

JPost,

I don't need a tutorial on how I should react when a rod tip breaks. I was simply asking about some options that may be out there because this is the first time something like this has happened. Saying that, I obviously don't know the policy and procedures of the rod company or the place that I bought it from. Telling me to "man up" or "pony up" screams hypocrisy when you are guilty of returning rods in the past. Frankly, your post serves no purpose as I was simply asking a legitimate question.

RoughHuff, I did my best to comunicate I wasn't judging you == guess I fell short.

I do think it served a useful purpose but maybe not to you.

Hope you get your rod replaced.
