To sum up the surf real quick it suxs! Started at 6am, threw tops, tails, shrimp, notta. Went across SLP to fish galveston bay side. Waded, threw tops, tails, got a few hits, no takers. Switched to popping cork/shrimp. Caught 9 reds up to 24" in about 1 1/2 hr. Kept 2 for BBQ pit. Back to surf bout 10:30 or so, couldnt give a live shrimp away. Water and wind wasnt pretty at all. Bait everywhere.

sometimes it's like that out there. Hit or miss. Did you try fishing the jetties?

Didnt try jetties, maybe should have. Hey Bill O., keep your reports comming. I was going to try by bridge,(Freeport side)from your report, but ran out of time. Water was little better under bridge with incomming tide, probably the best place to be.

I've heard many folks say fishing under the SLP bridge but how do you get down there? I've looked on both the surfside and galveston side and never seem to find a spot to actually fish under the bridge. Do you use 4wd and drive right thru the loose sand to get there or is there a way to get down there with regular car?

You should be able to access the beach area under the bridge on both sides in a car, seen people fishing all the time down there without 4x4. Just watch for paths that are well traveled. I always have a shovel, tow strap, or chain, just in case. Ive been stuck one time in the last 3 yrs, have helped at least 8-10 others out of the sand. When in doubt, scope it out.

I'll check it out tomorrow when I am down there. Hopefully something will be biting... sharks, reds, smacks, jacks, trout, all good.
