tried it for the first time last weekend, we expected only single digit fish but got into some low doubles using ultra-light rod and reel w/ sweet corn, it was a blast, thought I was going to get spooled on several occasions, my rod almost doubled over, this will be my new thing until fall

My float rod is a 6'6" ultralight rod that I use with 4#test line. I've caught up to 12# commons and 9# grassers on it, and it is my favorite way of carping. It just doesn't work in all cases (wouldn't do it at Lady Bird, for example).

This fall, man! Or at least September. Basically when it cools down. A few weeks back I spent a weekend fishing with Bret and Donny, and it was like 95 and humid as hell all weekend, that was enough for me till the temps dip down a little bit more again.

Maybe one of these days! That'd be about it though. I tend to do most of my carp fishing from October through about April.

Night fishing is usually doable in the summer though.
