Went out fly fishing for carp ninja style this past weekend. We got on the flats at about 730 and fished till around noon. The reason we decided to call it was a) it was freakin hot and b) the last carp I caught went carpatonic on me.

I've seen this before in very hot conditions. Mark and I were fishing the vine a long time ago in the heat and some fish would just stop fighting and strike a pose, freezing, never to move again.

In other words, because it is so hot with low oxygen levels, if you play a fish too long it has a very good chance of dying. Luckily the fish I caught was able to swim off but just barely.

Lesson, watch for the signs and don't play the fish too long.
