So I bought I new trolling motor since mine died. It looks like it should be a simple process, but I can't get the old one off.

There are 6 large screws/bolts that I can see, but they just spin when I try to get them out. There were 2 small screws that came out no problem. I'm not sure if I'm just not supposed to remove those big screws or if something is up with them. Find it hard to believe that all 6 would be stripped or something where I can't get them out.

I can't seem to find any instructions or manuals on the net, so any help would be appreciated.

Most likely they are bolts with nuts underneath the cap. On my boat, you remove the bow instrument panel to access the TM nuts.

That was exactly it! Thanks so much for the quick reply...my first attempt at doing the install myself.
