Then you build a small teeter-todder on the side, a 2x6 on a pivot just like a seesaw and lightly weight the outside edge so that the outside of the board is always in the pond. Then the turtles climb up the board until their weight bring the seesaw down and they plop off in the pvc cage. Thats all there is to it. best of luck.

Great trap and works extremely well.

Make sure the snappers are only the Common Snapping Turtle; the Alligator Snapping Turtle is protected and may not be possessed at any time.

Anyone else have any ponds I can catch turtles out of send me a PM. Not to worry about the Alligator Snappers. I've never seen one before in the wild and know I can't keep them if caught. I know plenty of turtle farms where I can buy a legal one :-)

What do you do with them? Do you eat them? I've got a pond that is starting to get overrun with them. Thought about going and shooting them.

Take a big bucket and lean a piece of wood or a ramp of some sort against it, with a bait inside and they will fall in and cant get out. Do whatever you want with them afterwards... I always kill them. I hate turtles
