 What is wrong with this fish?

Caught this guy tonight...not quite sure what was wrong with him...looked like a spinal deformation...he swam away fine though...just weird 
If we aren't supposed to eat the animals, then why did God make them out of meat?

just a deformation ive caught fish like that and a bass with a dent in front of his top fin.

If I was to make a left field guess, Id say that at some point some other fish tried to have lunch and this little fellow somehow got away and adjusted to his injury.

we catch lots of crooked cats, always figured another fish or a bird tried to get it at one time
