Do the Texas wine trail and hit up a bunch of vineyards during the day, then stay at a B&B or other place in Fredericksburg. Good way to spend a weekend. My wife and I are planning that for this year.

Check out the buzy B ranch on the webb. Neat get away log cabins, fully furnished. Fishing out front, close to Jefferson and Marshall. The boats are about an hour way. Sorry I don't have the number here.

Stayed at a bed and breakfast called the Governors House. Was built by one of the Texas Governors. Very neat town with loads of history. Place to eat is Big Eddies in Uncertain,TX on Lake Cypress

My wife and I had a great time in Marble Falls. Lots to do, and best of all many lakes close by.

Get the prime rib...... Very Good!

Hot Springs, AR.

It took us about 4 hours to drive from Dallas.

Stayed at the Arlington and had the Spa Treatment.

Another great place is Eureka Springs, AR. Very romantic and lots to do.

Just don't go when they have "Alternative Weekend" OR the UFO convention, unless of course you are into that kind of stuff.
