me and my dad are planning a trip to the coast next week to fish for some reds, specs, gafftops, flounder and what not. we have been to rockport, palacious, and galveston before and are looking for another destination with some great fishing. any locations, tips, or any other information would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you!

The further south you go..the better it gets. Port Mansfield, Arroyo City, Port Isabel all will get you hooked up easier than anywhere else.

However...you'll need a shallow tunnel hull to be able to navigate the LLM, without it, you're pretty well stuck to the intercoastal and east cut.

If you're Pier fishing try Port A. They've got 3 good piers, a beach and Two looooooonnnnnngggggg Jettys to fish.

Night fishing on the old causeway at port Isabel can be really good.

we were in north padre island last thrusday and fished at bob hall pier, we came home with 12 spanish mackeral and 3 pompano. we got to the pier at 5 am and left at noon. they were still tearing them up after we left. this is a good pier that we have gone to for many yrs and now that the piers are gone in galveston we go to corpus about once a week now.they also catch kingfish tarpon redfish black drum specs and other kinds of fish. you can also use yur cast net off of the pier too

Check saltwater reports/Mustang Island surf 25-29. Sounds like good fishin' to me! Esp. if you have no boat.

It takes 4-wheel drive, but the surf south of Corpus on the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS) really catches fire at this time of year.

Oh my I've been at Arroyo City the past 3 nights and the Reds are biting like crazy!!! I have caught so many I would have been able to feed a family of 5 for about a wk!!! You can see their schools and their fins standing out of the water!! The smallest I caught was 13in and largest was 28in. But I release every red I catch no matter the size. I have grown to love these fish that I no longer take them home.

i am plang a trip in late july and have been looking into some of the rentals on the water in arroyo.
this will be my 1st trip down. lost my favorite spot on gulf THANKS to BP!x*&^!#
i normaly wade fish the pass at gulf shores alabama. going to miss that.
parents live in Pharr so thought i would try a new vacation plan.
suprised so far seems like there is a lot to offer in the valley.
any pionters would be greatly appreciated.
may have a friend to hook up with a day or so to go out on his bay boat.would also like to wade, surf, or jettie fish some.
most of the places in arroyo seem to have docks with fishing lights . what can i expect to catch with some night fish there?

Any place under the lights will produce trout. Free line the edges of the lights with live shrimp and you should tear them up. Take a live finger mullet and put a drop shot weight about 12 inches above the hook. Drop the mullet down the side of the pier and slowly walk it up and down the pier. bump it as you walk. As soon as you feel tension, count to 8 and pull up your flounder.

Where is Arroyo City and how do I get there from Houston?

The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.
