Hey does anyone here know of a good spot or local pond to catch fish in town? I usually fish off a my friends boat at buttes, but thats only on the weekends. I'd like to fish more often than that. Any tips appreciated.

My buddy says a great place to go is down to Mertzon, not that far of a drive and fish the creek.......says they are pulling monster cats and some good size bass. Lake Nasworthy has always been decent, try there.

Right inside San Angelo limits, I used to like fishing under the dam at Nasworthy. Good spot for largemouth and white bass among others like carp, catfish, and drum.

Yeah I forgot the dam area. Also hear that the Concho around Bell Street is pretty good.

If you can find the hybrid, Nastywater is pretty good fishing but that can be difficult if its crowded with jet skis and play boats. I try to avoid it on weekends or holidays. I catch most of mine around the docks in the no wake areas, sometime up the Concho or Spring Creek. Never had a whole lot of luck with black bass, though. Caught a few here and there. Nothing big. Don't ask me why but Twin Buttes is a WHOLE lot better for blacks. Bank fishing is limited, though.

Agreed. I tried fishing nasworthy today under the dam. Caught 1 dink on rat-l-rap. Drove to buttes and tried bank fishing caught 2 in the 2-3lb range. It's just so hard to not fish in like 2 ft of water there

I was at Brady Lake at the end of April and was catching yellow bass left and right and a couple blacks. Lots of bank fishing in their park or, if you're willing to wade, there's a lot of spots on the north side of the lake. I'm sure Ivie would be worth a visit too, but I haven't been there in a few years.
Have you been to Pugh Park in Christoval? I lived in San Angelo for 3 years, have fished there for 17 years and never knew it existed until recently. Looks like it would be good.

i will be in angelo this coming sat . any body have any info . I don't have the hot spots. Only place I've fished in Angelo this year is at Foster Park, off 67 towards Knickerbocker. Nice park.
